Discover Jericho Ridge
Our mountain ridge home on the ridge of Jericho Canyon has spectacular panoramic views of the dramatic rock escarpment called The Palisades and a magnificent view of Table Rock. Our amazing views are augmented by the gardens, pool and landscaping that provide close-up color, fragrance and texture to this historical estate property.
Our home is in Calistoga, California at the north end of the famous Napa Valley. The cottage looks 180 degrees East and North East toward The Palisades, South of Mt. St. Helena - the highest point in Napa County. From our cottage, you can watch the last sunlight move up the cliff-face, usually accompanied by a color change as it approaches true sunset; first golden, then orange, then burgundy from the decks of our home. Once the sun has set, the rock turns back to a cold gray color with amethyst tints. Thus, although we can't watch the true sunset, we get a reflected and spectacular sunset on the cliffs.
After 15 years on the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland, we have returned to California to the Paradise that is Calistoga. Our gated property includes 40 acres of undeveloped natural and wild beauty. There is a lot of history surrounding this property that we are proud to continue and share with our guests. The gardens and landscaping are spectacular and a perfect backdrop to our quaint rental cottage and endless-like pool. We are surrounded by one of Calistoga’s amazing vineyards, Jericho Canyon. It is quiet and remote – while being within 3 ½ miles of the center of downtown: a perfect balance.
One of California history's greatest characters gave Calistoga its name, or so the story goes. Sam Brannan, who once owned most of the town, was asked what he planned to do with his northern Napa property. He intended to make it the Saratoga Springs of California, but with his diction slurred by premium wine tasting Brannan replied, "I'm going to make it the Calistoga of Sarafornia!" The name stuck.
Calistoga's small town ambiance, coupled with sophisticated dining, spa adventures and shopping, make it a favorite of many wine country visitors. Underground thermal features give rise to natural hot springs. Jericho Ridge is approximately 3 miles from Chateau Montelena – the vineyard that inspired the birth of Napa Valley – as depicted in the movie “Bottle Shock.”
We're proud that Calistoga was named one of the United States' Top Ten destinations for relaxation and spa by Trip Advisor's TRAVELERS CHOICE DESTINATIONS AWARDS. Just take a look at what Trip Advisor says about Calistoga: "Here's your day in Calistoga: Yoga. Massage. Spa lunch. Hike. Wine-tasting. Facial. Mud bath. Gourmet dinner (with more wine). Dip in a mineral pool. Does it get more relaxing than a spa town built around natural springs in the middle of wine country? We don't think so." The only thing they forgot was to mention our cottage at Jericho Ridge – the perfect place to end a perfect day.
Find yourself here, and you’ll find yourself coming back. (And we'll always be glad to see you!)
